Height comparison
Compare heights side by side, to scale. Add people by height, in centimetres or feet and inches, then stand them next to a giraffe, a T. rex, the Statue of Liberty or the Burj Khalifa. Nothing to install and no sign-up; share any comparison with its link.

Long animals (dinosaurs, crocodiles) are measured nose to tail and drawn lying down, so their length sits on the same scale as everyone’s height.
What this tool shows
Everyone and everything stands on one baseline at one scale, so a figure twice as tall is drawn twice as tall. The tallest entry sets the scale: add the Eiffel Tower and the people shrink to a few pixels, which is the point. The people use one adult silhouette stretched to each height, so the drawing compares heights, not builds.
How the heights are measured
People are measured standing, to the top of the head. Animals use the measurement on their size page: standing height for giraffes and ostriches, shoulder height for lions, bears, hippos, elephants and mammoths, as zoos and museums give it. Long animals such as dinosaurs are measured nose to tail and drawn lying down. Buildings and statues use their official height, which for some includes the spire or antenna.

How do I compare heights?
Type each person's name and height, in centimetres or in feet and inches, and they appear side by side on the same baseline at the same scale. Add up to eight people and six objects. The tallest one sets the scale, so the picture always fits.
Can I share a height comparison?
Yes. The page address updates as you change the comparison, so copying it (or pressing Copy link) shares exactly what you see: the names, heights, objects and units.
How tall is a giraffe compared to a person?
A tall male giraffe stands about 5.5 m (18 ft), a little over three times the height of a 175 cm (5 ft 9 in) adult. Add a giraffe above to see it beside your own height.
How big was a T. rex next to a human?
SUE, the most complete T. rex skeleton, is 12.3 m (40 ft) long from nose to tail, about seven adult heights laid end to end. Long animals are drawn lying down at their measured length, on the same scale as the people.
Where do the object sizes come from?
Every object is from SizeItUp's size chart, where each size has a primary source (zoos, museum specimens, NASA, official landmark figures) and a page saying exactly what is measured. Click an object's name to see it.
